Prenatal Ultrasound 3D/4D
Every pregnancy ultrasound may seem the same, but it's not.
A standard ultrasound performed on a furure mom at each visit is designed to assess whether the pregnancy is normal and helthy, determine the size and position of the fetus and evaluate the amount of amniotic fluid.
Prenatal ultrasound is designed to evaluate the anatomy of the fetus, exclude malformations of the baby in the period before birth, allows to determine the risk of genetic defects.
Modern ultrasound machines provide very important information about the function of the heart, placenta and other organs, and about the complete well-being of the fetus.
Prenatal ultrasound is a very difficult examination and requires detailed knowledge and skills from the doctor, therefore not every gynecologist performs it.
A doctor performing prenatal ultrasound should be FMF certified( Fundacja Medycyny Płodowej/Fetal Medicine Foundation).
The examinations are performed according to strict standards . They are three ultrasound examinations during pregnancy :
-USG with the assessment of the risk of genetic defects between the 11th and 14th week of pregnancy + PAPP-A test and Beta hCG protein
-Anatomical ultrasound between the 18th and 22nd week of pregnancy - the so-called "midline ultrasound".
-Ultrasound of the third trimester between 28 and 32 weeks' pregnancy, evaluation of the fetus's growth and development.
